I've got the samething as 'TDF fan' near as I can tell red means I haven't read it yet. Other then that I've got no clue what the diff symbols mean. I'm having to log in everytime as well. Figure it will be cool as soon as the bugs are worked out & I get used to it. Still trying to find my way around a bit.

Oh I had that, you can change the forum colors in your profile and it goes back to 'normal'

Timo is correct, red circle with a few lines in it is there are new posts in that thread that you have not read. If there is a red start in the upper right corner of that icon it means its Hot  , basically more than 25 posts equates to hot or Popular as listed in the settings.

If its a sticky thread the circle turns into a light bulb looking icon with a ! in it and a few lines. If its a circle with a lock icon its a locked thread. The main forum sections can have sub icons on the lower right of it with the same meanings.

Also thank here 86.

Is there anyway to skip striaght to the last post I read in a thread instead of clicking on the last page & scrolling down to it?

Agh, good question Timo! If you use the word threads as an example look here:

Image

If you click on the little orange icon next to the big red circle that we talked about before, actually hover the mouse over it first, and note that it reads, "View first unread post", now click on it and it jumps to the first unread post of the appropriate page.

Also, new posts have the same orange icon below the title and before the username, see:

Not sure if it's a result of the forum upgrade or not but I seem to be having problems viewing some images. Like the Toto thread. I can only see the left 1/2 of the comic & the last 2 times Kiaser put up pics All I got was the word 'image'. Anyone else having any issues? Otherwise looks great & I'm already feeling pretty comfy with the new changes.

yea- we're aware of the Toto (view chop off). I noticed it when I posted them last night.
In the mean time, the other two board styles will show the complete strip.

- click on Control Panel. top left
- click on board preference tab
- go down to my board style - there are 3 options in the drop down box, the default is bl@ck. Both minimal and subsilver2 options show the complete Toto strip.
- Choose which board style you want and hit submit down at the bottom
- the reset button will change the board style back to the bl@ck default

How can you tell if there is a poll on a thread without opening it?
I like polls but on the upgrade I can't tell what threads have them. Am I missing something?

No there isn't but I think you should be more interested in reading threads than voting and dashing out of a thread just to tweek your vote.

I could find a way, or I'm sure there's a way but at the moment the driving factor behind it is rather low based on you need. :|

OK yet another mini-upgrade, we went from version 3.0.4 to 3.0.6 keeping things up to date basically. The upgrade went very smoothly and sorry for not announcing it, but I blame Duh and Kimmi as they wanted to have a feature which I still need to test with this new version as it didn't work with the older version we had.

So kick things around and let me know if anything if broken or other.

A list of the changes can be read here on the code's site:

Just re-bumping because I changed a few things, first I merged the two "Forum Upgrade" threads and I just wanted to make sure you got the un-read setting re-set if it was cleared.

Curious thing has happened:
Before my pc died, e-mail alerts of new posts to threads that I follow were being delivered without fail to my inbox. Now, I have to read my e-mail through the ISP's web portal and I don't see any of the Chaos e-mail alerts at all.
Got any clues why this would be the case? I'm bumfuzzled. :?

I don't know, as we are not getting any bounces and I'm still getting e-mails from the site for PM's and the few threads I still am subscribed to (I've unsubscribed from most as my inbox was getting way too full :D ) besides I check them all so no need for that.

Dvora, is your e-mail address correct in your profile? You might want to check the box that auto-subscribes you to threads you reply to, that might of gotten reset during the upgrade last month?

A new update was applied to the forum software, see changes or upgrade/features below. Key item is the ATOM feeds, I have activated them and will post a how to for those who use them.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Key changes were mainly a security bug which was in the intermediate upgrade which we were not in v3.0.7 (we were at v3.0.6) and are now at v3.0.7-PL1. That was for v3.0.7 to v3.0.7-PL1 but!

Changes from v3.0.6 to v3.0.7 introduced some new features: (ref: http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... &t=2005525)

Minor feature additions to phpBB 3.0.7

* You can now see private forums in your ATOM feeds using HTTP authentication by passing the GET parameter "auth=http".
* The INTTEXT token was added to custom BBCodes to allow for non-ASCII letters in html attributes.
* You can now enable quick reply in all forums with a single click.

Small functionality changes in phpBB 3.0.7

* Warn users about potentially dangerous BBcodes.
* Forum feed no longer includes posts of subforums.
* Speed up topic move operation by adding an index for topic_id on the topics track table. (Bug #56545)
* Move redirect into a hidden field to avoid issues with mod_security. (Bug #54145)
* Log user activations through inactive users ACP. (Bug #30145)
* Alter ACP user quick tools interface to reduce confusion with the delete operation.
* Show a proper preview for the Q&A CAPTCHA. (Bug #56365)
* Send time of last item instead of current time in ATOM Feeds. (Bug #53305)
* Split "All topics" feed into "New Topics" and "Active Topics" feeds.
* It is no longer possible to persist a solution for the login CAPTCHA.
* Friends and foes will not show up as private message rule options if their respective UCP modules are disabled. (Bug #51155)
* Offer for guests to log in for egosearch and unreadposts search before the search permissions check. (Bug #51585)

A list of important bugfixes since phpBB 3.0.6

* Allow ban reason and length to be selected and copied in ACP and subsilver2 MCP. (Bug #51095)
* Correctly set last modified headers. (Bug #54245, thanks Paul.J.Murphy)
* Make word censoring case insensitive. (Bug #54265)
* Fulltext-MySQL search for keywords and username at the same time. (Bug #54325)
* Various XHTML and CSS mistakes in prosilver and subsilver2. (Bugs #54705, #55895, #57505, #57875 - Patch by HardStyle)

So how do you members like the new "Quick Reply" button featured in the Tour de France section? Anyone use it besides me? I like it, keeps having the page reload with the editor and I can see the post above as I like it. Any issues?

Just asking!
